The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Jon Favreau has signed up to return as Happy Hogan in the Shane Black helmed Iron Man 3. There had already been talk of him perhaps making some sort of appearance, but this confirms those earlier reports. It is also a pretty clear sign that there is no bad blood between Favreau and Marvel Studios after the mixed critical response - which many blame on Marvel's decision to include a few too many The Avengers related easter eggs - to the hugely successful Iron Man 2, and his decision not to return to helm the third instalment of the franchise. And if this report isn't confirmation enough for you that he will indeed return, check out a Tweet from Favreau earlier today. BTW twitter.com/Jon_Favreau/st…- Jon Favreau (@Jon_Favreau) May 24, 2012
Here is a story that is very inspiring. Anthony Smith, who is four years old, is a big comic book fan. He can't hear on his right ear, and he also suffers from hearing loss in the other ear. Smith wears a hearing aid, but one day he woke up and decided not to put it on. My Fox Boston has more info: "Anthony told his mother that superheroes don't wear hearing aids. His mother decided to look to Marvel Comics for some assistance. She e-mailed the comic empire known for its popular superheroes like Spider-man and the Avengers, looking for examples of superheroes who suffer from hearing loss." "Marvel responded with the image of a superhero known as Hawkeye, a superhero who lost 80-percent of his hearing and wears hearing aids. Marvel didn't stop there. They later sent Anthony a drawing of a new superhero, "Blue Ear." The character is named after Anthony's
Variety reports that Ashley Hamilton is in talks to play the villainous Firepower in Iron Man 3, yet another villain Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man will presumably face off against in the upcoming threequel. The role is described as being a minor one, so whether or not he will actually suit up as the armoured bad guy remains to be seen. In the comic books, Jack Taggart takes part in a government program (Project: Firepower) to control rogue super beings, and was trained on a simulator learning to operate an experimental suit in order to take down Iron Man. The film is reportedly based on the "Extremis" storyline.
Mad Mikkelsen, the Denmark native is having a great week. First, he found out that he is contention for a best acting award at the Cannes Film Festival for his portrayal of a man accused of being a pedophile in The Hunt. And now Variety is reporting that Mads is up for a villainous role in the sequel to Thor. It is unknown at this time what part he will play, but what is known is that his Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the original, will still have a big part as an antagonist. Marvel and Disney declined to comment on the casting. THOR 2 will be directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, The Sopranos) and will be released November 15, 2013. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, and Idris Elba are all expected to return.
As we saw in the leaked set videos during filming of The Amazing Spider-Man last year, the team behind this incarnation of the iconic Marvel superhero have put an emphasis on using as many practical effects as possible to bring Spider-Man and his web-swinging to life on the big screen. Perhaps one of the biggest faults people had with Sam Raimi's trilogy was how rigid and static the live action Spidey looked in comparison to the computer generated version. The transition between the two was always obvious. In an excerpt from my interview with legendary stuntman/stunt coordinator/second unit director Vic Armstrong about his autobiography The True Adventures of the World's Greatest Stuntman, this is what he told me about working on the film and how they went about achieving the real life web swinging effects. "I’m going to LA for the premiere on the 28th June. With [The Amazing] Spider-Man, it was
Marvel's The Avengers is still doing great both domestically and overseas, but The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Men in Black 3 will be the film that finally takes back the #1 spot after a solid few weeks for Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble at the top. The threequel (which had a whopping $230 million budget) looks set to dominate the Memorial Day holiday with an expected four-day gross of between $80 million and $90 million. Some analysts are even predicting $100 million. It's thought that it will also have no trouble taking around $200 million internationally. The Avengers has so far grossed $472.2 million domestically and $747.4 million internationally, steadily moving up the list of all-time highest grossing movies. It is currently on track for the #4 or #3 spot depending on how well it does over the next few weeks. Be sure to check out my 4* review of Men in
International buyers have been attending the L.A. Screenings sampling the new U.S. television shows. Deadline is reporting that some series are receiving some solid buzz, but there doesn't seem to be any standouts. One of the shows that is garnering high praise from the international community is CW's Arrow. Among the new shows gettings thumbs-up is Warner Bros’ superhero CW drama Arrow. "It was surprisingly good," said Ruediger Boess, head of acquisitions for Germany’s ProSiebenSat1. "It’s darker and older than the standard CW shows, and its very well cast." - Deadline CW's Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy as Dinah "Laurel" Lance, Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen, and David Ramsey as John Diggle.

Talking to Eurogamer, Nolan North (best known for voicing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series of video games) has revealed how he managed to score a minor role in Star Trek 2. "I just worked on Star Trek 2 with J. J. Abrams. The reason I did that movie - it's a very small role - but it's because he and his son are huge fans of Uncharted. I met him doing some work on Super 8 and he said 'We're doing Star Trek, you wanna do it?' And I said I'd love to." "He's a huge fan of gaming and he was telling me how people just don't understand [the medium] yet, but they're going to catch up," he added. "They don't understand how amazing this technology is and it doesn't get the respect it deserves, but if it keeps making the money it makes you're going to see more and

For those of you that have read Neil Gaiman's Sandman, you know very well what that item above is and what its place in the original Sandman volume. At one point, the item belonged to Dream of the Endless but it was subsequently lost and fell into the hands of B-list villain, Doctor Destiny. Without delving too deep into Gaimans brilliant run, the above reference in Justice League Dark thoroughly interrupts the continuity of the original series. Part of Gaiman's contract with DC was that the series would end once he was finished thus the above image is a bit of a headscratcher. Could more Sandman stories be on the way? See Dreamstone. See Justice League Dark. See Dream of the Endless. Note: Justice League Dark #9 marked the debut issue of writer Jeff Lemire, who took over from Peter Milligan. Yesterday a few sites made quite a big deal about the Bruce Wayne toy that you can see labeled on the packaging below. Mike Hammer is a private detective created by American author Mickey Spillane and since his creation in 1947, he has been featured in several books, comics and various radio, television and film adaptations. Following the death of Spillane in 2006, Max Allan Collins was tasked with completing the unfinished Hammer novels (the latest being Lady, Go Die!). I asked him about the chances of a big screen adaptation featuring the character, and he revealed that we should expect to see Hammer on the big screen very soon. "There is serious talk going on right now. I would be involved as a consulting producer, most likely. I'd love to write the screenplay, but my credits in that area are pretty much all in the indie field and wouldn't make the grade for a big Hollywood production. There's a possibility it will be based on one of the

"When gay marriage became legal in New York State, it raised obvious questions since most of our heroes reside in New York State. Northstar is the first openly gay character in comics and he's been in a longterm relationship with his partner Kyle so the big question was – how would this change his relationship?," Marvel's editor-in-chief Axel Alonso tells Rolling Stone. "Our comics are always best when they respond to and reflect developments in the real world. We've been doing that for decades, and this is just the latest expression of that." "Here are two people, trying to live their lives – mutant and gay, black and gay – empowered in their own ways, but also fringe-dwellers," says Astonishing X-Men writer Marjorie Liu. "And they're making it happen. They're living life on their own terms. It doesn't matter that it's a superhero comic, the message is: You can do the
